Mother's Day Garden Stone Cookies

Grab the kids, some cookies, frosting and candy, and let them get creative making sweet  Garden Stone Cookies to celebrate Mother’s Day. If you’ve been planting seeds with your Children  this spring and are planning a garden, then this crafty food project will be perfect for you. The idea for these cookies is based on an edible craft I made a few years ago for my own mom, who loves flowers. My  Cookies ‘n Cream Fudge Garden Stones started me on a path to creating more edible rocks out of either white chocolate or white frosting and crushed cookies. When blended together, they really do have the appearance of stone.

Little hands will have an easy time decorating these cookies. Kids can be artistic or messy, just as long as they are having fun. Garden stones can be decorated in so many different ways, and using candy like M&M’s, Skittles, Candy Coated Sunflower Seeds, Chocolate Rocks, Reese’s Pieces, Starburst, and Confetti Sprinkles will make the cookies colorful and festive.

You’ll Need:

*You could also just crush up some Oreo Cookies into white frosting.

Instructions:

Frosting Garden Stone Cookies

Frosting Garden Stone Cookies

Set your cookies on a cooling rack set over a piece of parchment or wax paper.

Open your tub of  Cookies ‘n’ Cream Frosting and stir in the crumbs. If you want a darker shade of grey for your garden stone cookies, crush one or two more Oreo Cookies and stir them into the frosting.

Spoon frosting into a microwave safe bowl.  Heat on high power for 20 seconds, then stir. Heat for another 20 seconds, then stir. If the frosting is thin enough to pour, it’s ready, if not then heat it for 10 second increments, stirring after each until it’s ready.

Pour frosting over cookies, using a spoon to spread it out if needed. You may need to re-heat the frosting as you are working. Allow the frosting to set for about 20 minutes.
